A Celebration of the Female Form

I studied BA (Hons) Decorative Arts at Nottingham Trent University, where I explored a wide range of materials, including textiles, metal, print, and glass. Ceramics brought me the most joy, and I’ve always felt a deep connection with clay, which is why I chose it as my specialty.

My work is inspired by natural forms and the world around me. During life drawing classes at university, I became captivated by the female form, the soft curves, asymmetry, and “imperfections” that make each body unique. I realised that every body is a work of art in itself.

Blue features prominently in this collection. It is the colour of the sky and sea, representing depth, freedom, and inspiration. Brilliant blue is also known to evoke happiness, confidence, and excitement, qualities I hope to highlight in relation to women and their bodies. This collection celebrates individuality, encourages self-love, and challenges societal beauty ideals.

Having personally experienced the pressures placed on women to look “perfect,” I felt it was important to create work that uplifts and empowers. This collection highlights the beauty of features often labelled as “imperfections,” such as hip dips, rolls of fat, and asymmetry. Through these pieces, I hope to inspire viewers to embrace and appreciate their own bodies and to see themselves as the unique works of art they truly are.
